The Hoadedhoo Council in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll, Maldives, has unveiled an enticing investment prospect: the lease and development of Kandevarehaa Island. This untouched 4.6-hectare gem is being offered for transformation into a high-end integrated tourist resort, reinforcing the Maldives’ status as a premier luxury travel destination.
Situated within the same lagoon as Hoadedhoo, Kandevarehaa’s prime location makes it an ideal canvas for innovative resort development. The island, under the Hoadedhoo Council’s jurisdiction, presents a rare opportunity in this coveted tropical paradise.
As of September 24, 2024, the council has opened bidding to both domestic and international developers qualified to create world-class resorts. Interested parties can acquire bidding documents on weekdays until November 17, 2024, between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, excluding public holidays.
To facilitate the process, a virtual pre-bid meeting is scheduled for October 15, 2024, at 1:00 pm via Zoom. Prospective bidders should register their interest by emailing their details to [email protected] before 2:00 pm on October 13, 2024.
The deadline for proposal submissions is set for November 24, 2024, at 1:30 pm. The council welcomes inquiries for additional information or clarification via email.
This offering marks a renewed attempt to develop Kandevarehaa, following a previous initiative by the Ministry of Tourism in 2021. The council’s current effort aligns with broader strategies to enhance tourism and stimulate economic growth in the region.
By opening Kandevarehaa for development, the Maldives continues to expand its luxury tourism footprint, offering developers a chance to create a unique resort experience in one of the world’s most sought-after destinations.
